Usually we use a contrasting wood for fingerboard binding. The thin strips frame the sides and bottom edge of the fingerboard. Other decorative features, such as the tulip tip’ scallop, are enhanced by this detail.
In addition to wood, we can use metal like sterling silver or plastic in the form of pearloid and ivoroid to acheive your desired aesthetic.
