ABOUT THE CREST BASS
The Crest bass is the first single-cutaway bass in our lineup. The form is rooted in the shape of the Small Standard body,
most familiar in the Stanley Clarke model. The shape of the Crest brings the upper strap pin closer to the headstock,
improving balance, even in its standard medium scale.
The woods for the Crest were chosen for their combination of light weight and tonal voice. Many of our instruments from
the 1970s and early 1980s used Birch as the center laminate in the neck. In the Crest, Birch is the primary neck wood,
which brings a resonant, bright tone. The Walnut neck laminates contribute a fast attack.
On the body, we are using Okoume for the first time. It’s less dense and therefore lighter weight than the Mahogany
we usually cast as a body wood, with a pleasant tone that isn’t overbearingly bright or too bassy. Walnut is the standard top
laminate and adds a touch of crispness and fast attack.
